Your Guide to Boucher Playing Fields: Concert Nights, Hotels, and More in Belfast

Overview of Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast

The Boucher Road Playing Fields are exactly what they sound like. A multi-purpose park with sports pitches for soccer and gaelic. However, its sports pitches aren't as popular as its occasional use as a concert venue. For a couple of nights over each year, this park becomes Northern Ireland's biggest stage for some of the world's biggest artists.

On concert nights, the venue has a number of excellent food trucks with lovely staff. Each side of the crowd space has a line of bars, in a prime location so you don't miss your favourite songs. The professional bar staff service includes draft beers, wines and spirits.

Getting to the venue is easy, with excellent transport links. Even though, there is usually not a long queue to enter the Boucher Playing Fields. Some concerts can attract a capacity crowd. If you notice that all tickets have sold out then make sure tickets are downloaded before arrival. Since the mobile signal tends to weaken when the venue is full, you should download tickets beforehand, as ticket apps may not function reliably.

The Boucher Road Playing Fields are situated on a grassy ground area. There is some gravel, and paths but the majority of the area is grass. So, We recommend concertgoers wear boots, as the ground can be muddy in some areas.

Location and Accessibility

There are accessible toilets for those with additional needs. Along with ramps and viewing areas for disabled people or neurodivergent.

Located on the outskirts of Belfast City, the easiest way to get there is by train from city centre to Upper Lisburn Road. While this is great on the way out to the venue. It can be a bit cramped on the way back into Belfast Central Railway Station. That being said there is a lot of on road parking nearby, though there will be traffic diversions in place.

Hotels near Boucher Playing Fields

The Boucher Road Playing Field are not in an excellent location for after the gig. It's best to find a central Belfast hotel

Travelodge Belfast Central

One of the most popular hotels in Belfast City Centre is the Travelodge Belfast Central

Just around the corner is one of the most famous bars in Ireland. The Crown Liquor Saloon on Great Victoria street is a national monument standing there since 1885. The intricate mosaic tiling of the saloon is thanks to the skills of Italian craftsmen who happened to be in the area at the time.

On the night before departure, plan ahead to find a convenient location for a delicious breakfast. One of our favourites is Harlem Cafe, however fantastic food usually comes with a long queue. Especially on a weekend, make sure you get here early, or be ready to queue.
